From a Tree to a Thought — A Story of EFSian Spirit
Just a few days ago, the world seemed preoccupied—watching drones navigate the skies, tracking technology, speed, and precision.
Amidst all that noise, I found myself drawn to something far more grounded… something more meaningful.
A thought.
A simple, yet powerful idea around sustainability and purpose.
Last Friday, during a routine interaction at our farm, my gardening team highlighted a practical issue—a large tree with deep, aggressive roots was disrupting the vegetable patch, preventing water retention and affecting growth.
A problem. A routine one.
But at EFS, we are conditioned to look beyond problems.
We look for possibilities.
As I stood there, observing that tree, one thought crossed my mind:
“This is not waste… this is raw material waiting for a second life.”
That moment defined the journey.
From Removal to Reinvention
That very Friday, we carefully extracted the required portion of the tree.
And then began what I would call—not a project—but a demonstration of belief.
With no external vendors, no elaborate procurement cycles, and no inflated budgets…
Just four committed members from our joinery team, a shared purpose, and a mindset of excellence.
Over the next six to seven days, we transformed that tree into:
- 9 chairs, intelligently mounted on old revolving wheel frames
- A conference table, built using repurposed table structures
- A sofa bench with three stools
- A standalone bench with a table
- All supported by recycled legs and structures
- And to add character—chandeliers and fountains, crafted from the same reclaimed wood
Every piece carried intent. Every cut reflected thought. Every joint symbolised teamwork.
